When I saw that John Lydon and his band were competing to represent Ireland in this year's Eurovision Song Contest, I assumed I had fallen into a bizarre parallel universe where he had ignored the Punk movement entirely in the 1970s but had instead been a primary school teacher with a love of music and dreams of stardom. But that's not the case, and now we have 'Hawaii'. Joking aside, it's not a bad song. It has a gentleness that washes over you, and the more you listen to it, the better it gets. It's rather beautiful, to be honest.
