I came into my music-loving powers around the time the 'Daisy Age' of Hip-Hop was everywhere. So my love for A Tribe Called Quest is real. Everyone knows the CJ Mackintosh remix of 'Bonita Applebum' with Carly Simon's 'Why?' as the hook. But LION BABE has chosen to take inspiration from the album version (the one that used to get blasted out of our corner of the sixth-form common room almost hourly), and they've gone for a hi-hat heavy, deep house rework, with cleaned-up samples from the original creating something pretty damn good in the process. Give it a go.
