God, I love The War On Drugs. My favourite songs of theirs are the ones that start almost invisibly and then explode towards the end. I have lost count of exactly how many times the epic 'Strangest Thing' has made me burst into tears. So, as perfectly constructed as his delicate new single 'Living Proof' is, the payoff is on a smaller scale than usual. The vocals are exquisite and soothing, as always, and the track itself is excellent. But I wish it was a couple of minutes longer, so it had an ending that didn't feel quite so rushed.
