Joyce Wrice ft. Freddie Gibbs - On One
Looking back, that whole early to mid-90s R&B scene was the pinnacle of that sound for me. There seemed to be an endless stream of brilliantly catchy songs coming out of America, all delivered flawlessly by strong Black female voices. Massive tracks from artists like Brandy, Jade, and Adina Howard. The latter even gets a name check in Freddie Gibbs' rap on this excellent new single from Joyce Wrice. It's a love letter to that era, complete with a dance-filled video set at a backyard BBQ somewhere in California. Wrice is obviously an immense talent, and she truly shines here.
