I'm listening to this new Maceo Plex remix of 'Insomnia' from a critical perspective, but also with some fond memories of dancing to it back in the mid-90s thrown in for good measure. That said, I have questions. Why does Maxi Jazz's rap seem entirely off the beat? Why has his vocal been altered to occasionally sound like a serial killer making a phone call? Why is there a sample of Edd The Duck quacking over the track at various points? Valid concerns from a fan of the original struggling to find anything to enjoy here, I think you'll agree.
