'Freedom 90' is my favourite George Michael track ever, and I've yet to hear a cover of it that didn't make me want to punch orphans. Until now, that is because this version from Christine & The Queens actually works. It took me a while to come to that decision, though. I was ready to give it both barrels after the first few listens, but it seemed to keep getting better with every play. With haunting production and powerful vocals complimented perfectly by a muted gospel choir, this is a different take on the original but a good one nonetheless.
