This song begins exquisitely. It's fragile and perfectly balanced. Vocals up front and a soft piano line in the back, noodling away. It had me hooked immediately. There are elements of old Sarah McLachlan to the start, and maybe even some of Ani Di Franco's softer moments. It stays that way for about two-thirds of the track, but then there is an unwelcome shift, moving the whole thing into your more standard US radio-friendly fodder. It's such a shame because if they had taken a risk and kept things simple, avoiding the generic, it could have been something truly extraordinary.
