Susanne Sundfør could sit in front of me and sing words from the dictionary, and I'd probably burst into tears and then fall to my knees thanking her before she had finished the word 'Aardvark'. I'd go as far as to say she's the best vocalist on the planet (fight me). Both of the tracks here are incredible, albeit in very different ways. While 'alyosha' sticks to her tried and tested sweeping and dramatic style, 'leikara ljóð' is a gospel-tinged number mainly formed of layered harmonies and handclaps, with a bit of birdsong chucked in for good measure. Simply stunning.
