I am very conflicted. Half of me thinks that it's beyond fantastic that the kids will be out there dancing to what was an essential part of my early House Music education, Black Riot's seminal 'A Day In The Life'. But the rest of me feels this rework has been done in the most basic way possible. It undoubtedly sounds punchy enough on a dancefloor, but there's no sparkle here. However, it does make me wonder how stellar a full-on, totally new track by Riva Starr and Todd Terry could be. Until that arrives, this will have to do. Sigh.
