I am beyond anxious whenever the first music from a new Pet Shop Boys album arrives. They have been so consistently amazing that there's always a nagging worry in my brain that this could be the moment they lose their mojo. Fear not, however, because 'Loneliness' is a storming slice of disco, elevated to stratospheric levels thanks to some gorgeous, heavenly strings. It feels like a natural extension to 2020's 'Monkey Business', one of their strongest tracks of recent years. The vocal seems a bit lost in the mix sometimes, but that doesn't stop this from being a cracking single.
