Mrs Knowles-Carter can have all the fun she wants, dipping her toes into the rodeo, but I'm far happier to see that Kacey Musgraves is back. Her last album was all about her moving on following a divorce, and 'Deeper Well' carries on that theme, but in a different way. Here, she addresses her self-medication with cannabis and how she's ready to let go of that crutch and other negativity in her life. It's a beautiful, gentle number about a tricky subject, delivered flawlessly. The songwriting is immaculate, the vocals are crystal clear, and there's almost no one better lyrically.
