In my experience, there are two types of John Grant songs. The atmospheric ones are dark and brooding and make you feel like he's stood behind you in the shadows, ready to murder you, while the others have a much lighter, bouncier, almost nursery rhyme vibe that could have been written for inclusion in an (admittedly twisted) episode of Sesame Street. 'It's a Bitch' lands squarely in the second camp, and it's putting a huge smile across my face every time I hear it. Lyrically ace and full of funk, you can tell he's had a riot making this one.
