It wasn't easy being young and gay in the 1980s. Growing up, I witnessed constant negativity and demonisation, so I tended not to shout about it. But as I got older, I got angrier. I became increasingly more political, marching at every Pride I could, and was even outside the Houses of Parliament when the age of consent was equalised. Buoyed by seeing artists like Jimmy Somerville enter the mainstream, I found my voice. AMYL have sprinkled their magic over the iconic 'Read My Lips', and it's spectacular. Never forget that Silence = Death (but the more cowbells, the better).
