Nobody else does this kind of down and dirty funk with a message like Janelle Monáe. 'Turntables', is a powerful commentary on the evils of voter oppression, systematic racism, white supremacy that's currently blighting America. Crucially, the track also carries the vital information that, however dark things are looking now, they will change for the better so long as people remain motivated and engaged in the process. With the US elections just around the corner, this is a compelling rallying cry to everyone who wants a fairer, more equal, world to stay on target and to keep hope alive.
