Jamie XX's scattergun approach to sampling doesn't always land for me. But it turns out that all I needed to overcome my objections was some additional spice courtesy of Honey Dijon because their collaboration, 'Baddy On The Floor', is a monster of a track. A perfect storm of uplifting House pianos, cut-up vocals, Electro basslines and brass hooks. They've created something that it's impossible not to move your body that makes smile like a motherfucker every time you hear it. All of that, and it's landed at the ideal time to become one of the summer's biggest tunes. Job done.
