I really liked the singles from that first HAIM album but have been pretty underwhelmed by most of the stuff that has come after. 'Gasoline' changes everything. Laconic in the best way, with the sort of ease that reminds me of mid-90s Sheryl Crow at her best, this is great. There's almost nothing to it. The drums lead the way with Danielle's vocal soaring gently over the top. everything else is merely back up, but essential to the track. It's unmistakeably them, but there's also a maturity to their sound now that I've not heard before and I love it.
