Sometimes you can overthink a song. You spend ages going through lyrics and key changes to apply meanings that aren't there to make them more personal to us. Nick Hornby summed it up perfectly in his book '31 Songs' when he says that we attempt to 'solve' them by repeatedly listening until we crack their code. I spent at least an hour on this one, assuming that I would have some kind of earth-shattering epiphany that would change music forever. Turns out it's just a fucking fantastic pop song with a massive chorus. Which is all that really matters, right?
