Taken from a 7" release only available through Rough Trade, Green Gartside has covered two Annie Briggs tracks from the early 70s. 'Tangled Man' is next-level beautiful. I want to lie down with it, cuddle it, and protect it because it's fragile and perfect. It starts out true to the folk roots of the original with his distinct vocal over drifting serenely over a simple guitar-led track before taking the most delicate of turns halfway through, adding a gentle, respectful, electronic line underpinning the song and somehow making it even better than it already was. It's completely exquisite. Get one.
