There's just something about Gladys Knight samples in house tunes that just always works. She's got that ultimate soul in her voice that seems to hold up well against repetitive beats. This track from Gimbrère is a masterclass on how to use a vocal correctly. By that, I mean whacking a tight beat behind it, layering lashings of disco strings on top, and a bouncy acid line under holding everything in place. This monster of a tune is precisely the sort of thing I was losing my shit to fifteen years ago in London. I'm off to invent time travel.
