Faithless ft. Nathan Ball - Synthesizer
I am old enough to remember Cheeky Records and the meteoric rise of Faithless first time around. One of the things that allowed them to stand out was how they embraced a level of overblown grandiosity on their tracks. Nothing was too big (their debut track 'Salva Mea' is the dance music equivalent of 'Bohemian Rhapsody'). Ahead of their first new album in ten years, 'Synthesizer' brings a rich and more mature sound. But, to these ears, it sounds a bit dated and is missing the spark that made them special. It's solid, just not up there with their best.
