Thanks to the brilliant Fontaines D.C. version of '' Cello Song', I've already written about the upcoming Nick Drake covers project. John Grant and Emeli Sandé have now thrown their hats into the ring, delivering their takes on 'Day Is Done' and 'One Of These Things First'. Both are pretty damn great, to be fair. The Grant rework maintains his trademark haunting, atmospheric feel, including a beautifully intense build. But it's the latter that has grabbed my attention. Sandé has turned the original into a smouldering lo-fi Soul moment, complete with muted church choir and pipe organ, and it's exquisite.
