Das Koolies are 80% of Super Furry Animals (minus frontman Gruff Rhys). They have hit the ground running since the beginning of the year, releasing a constant stream of quality singles, covering genres from Acid House, Stadium Indie, and even a bit of dirty Breaks, but 'Pain Down The Drain' might be my favourite so far. It's a mighty blend of high-octane 70s Glam Rock, cinematic orchestral breaks, and whispered vocals, and it's a wild ride. It's truly glorious chaos. Keep your eyes on this lot because they are shaping up to be one of this year's most exciting projects.
