This is a really great song. Beautifully and delicately constructed, with a massive anthemic chorus, and faultlessly produced. But every inch of my being hears Andy McCluskey in a crappy tie singing this on Top of the Pops in 1981. Imitation, flattery, and all that. Maybe that's the sound that they were going for here. 100% OMD. If that's the case, this track is a resounding success. I know that Cut Copy has always had an element of that 80s synth sound to their stuff, but it seems more apparent than ever here. It's still fucking brilliant, though. Try it.
