Carl Louis - Portal To Happiness

Carl Louis's 'Odyssey' was my favourite track of 2018. It sparkles. Washing over you like you were taking a shower in liquid candy floss full of glitter. Maybe because I loved it so much I can't help but feel that this new material is a little bit of a disappointment. It's not bad, but it's not really that good either. It's your standard psychedelic pop fodder and comes across as a watered-down Tame Impala b-side. The chorus is quite nice, I suppose, but the whole thing is missing any kind of excitement. I like it, but I don't love it.
