Bronski Beat's 'Smalltown Boy' is the most important gay Pop song ever recorded, bar none. So it's fitting that this new rework from ABSOLUTE., which respects the original while bringing the track bang up to date, was released in time for the annual Pride celebrations. I hope everyone who participated, regardless of the letter they identify as, had a joyous, positive, life-affirming and thoroughly political time. However, it's always worth saying that, even though our 'designated month' has ended, we should not feel the need to hide away until next year. We're here, we're queer. Fucking get used to it.
