Beyoncé has announced the second chapter of her 'Renaissance' trilogy, and I bet no one (myself included) guessed it would be a country album. But, as unexpected as that is, it makes a lot more sense to me than her tenuously embracing gay ballroom culture. She was born and raised in Texas, so it's a sound she would have heard alongside the R&B and Soul her father brought her up on. Most importantly, is the song any good? The answer is almost. Her deep spin on the genre is refreshing, but, to me, it still feels like she's playing dress-up.
