Any opportunity to hear Ann Nesby's voice is something I am going to accept. I regularly listen to those Souls of Blackness House tunes from the early nineties. She is undoubtedly one of the Queens of Soul and Gospel. For 'Joy', she's teamed up with Dutch DJ & producer Bakermat, and the results are... let's say mixed. The vocals are flawless here. Facts are facts. But the track under them has moments that are so generic and predictable they almost take the shine off everything else. It'll put a smile on your face, sure. But we've heard it all before.
