It's impossible to overstate Armand Van Helden's importance to house music. From the early nineties, alongside his own incredible productions and collaborations, he's been a genuine innovator. Bringing countless new sounds into the mainstream. I'll never forget the first time I heard his remix of CJ Bolland's seminal 'Sugar Daddy'or 'Professional Widow' in a club. Those basslines will stay with me forever. So... it breaks my heart to share with you that the PhD sampling 'Wings' is fucking dreadful. It's the worst kind of mid-90s generic local radio dance fodder with none of the quality or style that's come before.
