This is a weird one for me. My default position on Annie is one of presumed quality. But I can't help but feel a little bit underwhelmed here. There's no doubt that the usual polished pop is present, albeit in a bleak way, but the massive hook she usually brings to the table is nowhere to be seen. Also, for the first time on an Annie track, I can hear other people's songs running through this. The chords seem to be lifted from 'Barefoot in the Head', for example. I can't dislike this, because it's good. I just expected more.
