Aitch - 1989

Putting the fact that he wasn't born until ten years later than the title of his own track to one side for a minute, Aitch's new single is pretty good. Built around most of 'Fools Gold' by fellow Mancunians The Stone Roses, it's easy to see why he got Stormzy's attention. Yes, that sample has been used many times before. But something about his treatment of it, combined with his energy as a rapper, and his obvious love for his hometown, is ticking all the right boxes for me. This is streets ahead of his last release, Baby, for me.
